On iPhone, tap Projects (stack icon) or More → Import. Choose a local PDB, mmCIF, or .moltouch project, or type a PDB ID and download from RCSB over HTTPS. On iPad, use the same Projects control in the top bar.
Which formats are supported?
Coordinate files in PDB and mmCIF, plus MolTouch project packages (.moltouch). PyMOL session files are not supported.
How do I change the picture?
Open Style. The default presentation is cartoon for the polymer with ligands as ball-and-stick and water hidden. You can switch representation (cartoon, ball-and-stick, sticks, space-filling, wireframe) and color (secondary structure, element, chain, B-factor, occupancy).
How do I measure a distance?
Choose Measure, leave Distance selected, then tap two points on the cartoon. Each tap uses that residue’s principal atom (CA on protein). You can also open Structure and tap two residues. Angle needs three atoms; dihedral needs four.
Where did the iPad bottom bar go?
On iPad, tools live in the top bar. Use the sidebar buttons to show or hide Structure and Inspector. The 3D canvas stays full-width so the molecule is not squeezed.
Will I see ads?
Sometimes. MolTouch may show a single App Open ad from Google AdMob when you come back from the background, after you have used the app a few times, and not more often than about twice a day. Ads are skipped while you measure or have a panel open. There is no banner on the canvas. See the Privacy Policy.
What is the tracking prompt?
That is Apple’s App Tracking Transparency dialog. Allowing it lets AdMob use the advertising identifier for more relevant ads. Choosing Ask App Not to Track still lets infrequent ads appear; they are less personalized. Change this later in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Does MolTouch upload my files?
No. Local files stay on the device. Only an RCSB download you start leaves the device, and only as a request for that ID. Ad requests, when allowed, go to Google and do not include your structure files.
Is this PyMOL?
No. MolTouch is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or derived from PyMOL or Schrödinger.
