Why isn't the weather data updating?

How do I receive weather warning notifications?
Setup steps:
- Open iOS "Settings" β "KongWeather"
- Ensure "Notifications" are enabled
- Choose your preferred notification style (banners, lock screen, etc.)
- We recommend enabling "Time Sensitive Notifications" for timely warnings
You will receive push notifications immediately when the Hong Kong Observatory issues weather warnings.
Maps not displaying or loading slowly?
Possible causes:
- Slow internet speed
- Large map layer data size
- Device performance limitations
Recommendations:
- Switch to a faster Wi-Fi network
- Wait for layers to fully load before interacting
- Close other resource-intensive applications
- Update to the latest version for performance improvements
How do I change the language?
Steps:
- Tap the "More" tab at the bottom of the app
- Enter "Settings" page
- Select "Language" option
- Choose from Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, or English
The interface and weather information will switch immediately after changing the language.
How do I set the pressure unit?
KongWeather supports two pressure units:
- hectoPascal (hPa) - International standard unit
- millimeters of mercury (mmHg) - Traditional unit
You can switch freely in "More" β "Settings" β "Unit Settings".
Which iOS versions are supported?
System requirements:
- iOS 12.0 or later
- Internet connection required for weather data updates
- iOS 15.0 or later recommended for best experience
If your device doesn't support the latest iOS version, the app will still work normally, but some new features may not be available.
Why is there no data for certain areas?
All data displayed by KongWeather comes from official Hong Kong Observatory weather stations. Some areas may lack data because:
- No weather monitoring station is installed in that area
- Monitoring station is under maintenance
- Data transmission temporarily interrupted
We only display actual monitoring data provided by the Observatory without estimation or speculation to ensure information accuracy.

All weather information comes from the following official sources:
- Hong Kong Observatory - Weather data, forecasts, warnings
- Hong Kong Lands Department - Base map services
- Complies with Hong Kong Government open data license terms
Update Frequency
- Real-time weather: Auto-updates every 10 minutes
- 9-day forecast: Updated several times daily
- Weather warnings: Real-time push notifications
- UV index: Updated every 15 minutes
- Tidal information: Updated daily
Data Storage
To provide a smoother user experience, the app caches some data locally on your device:
- Weather history data (last 24 hours)
- Map layer cache
- User preference settings (language, units, etc.)
All cached data is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to any server.
