Japality Limited ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Android mobile application Sudoku Hacker (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data in connection with the App, in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong ("PDPO").
1. Data we collect
We designed Sudoku Hacker to work largely offline. The App itself does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to play. However, we use third‑party services which may collect certain data:
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) may collect device information, the Android Advertising ID, approximate location (coarse), and performance metrics to deliver and measure ads. Android users can reset or limit ad personalization in system settings.
- Shared Preferences on your device are used to store local app settings (e.g., theme, board state). These data stay on your device unless you remove the App or clear data.
2. Purposes of collection and use
- Provide core Sudoku gameplay, settings, and in‑app features.
- Display ads and measure ad performance (via AdMob).
- Ensure security, debug issues, and improve user experience.
3. Lawful basis and PDPO compliance
We handle personal data (if any) in accordance with the Data Protection Principles (DPPs) under the PDPO, including purpose specification, data minimization, accuracy, retention, security, openness, and access/correction rights. For ad personalization we rely on user choices exposed via Android system-level ad personalization settings; if disabled, ads may be non‑personalized.
4. Retention
Local data on your device persist until you uninstall the App or clear data. AdMob may retain data per its own policies. We do not centrally store your gameplay data on our servers.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with service providers as necessary to operate the App (e.g., AdMob). These parties are bound by their terms/policies.
6. International transfers
Third‑party partners (e.g., Google) may process data on servers outside Hong Kong. We contract only with reputable providers that implement appropriate safeguards.
7. Your rights
Under the PDPO, you have rights to request access to and correction of personal data held by us. For data processed by third parties like AdMob, please refer to their privacy policies and tools. To exercise your rights relating to data we hold, contact us at japalitylimited@gmail.com.
8. Children
The App is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Parents/guardians should supervise children’s use, including ad preferences.
9. Security
We apply reasonable security measures to protect data within our control. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Third‑party links and SDKs
The App may include links to external sites or use third‑party SDKs (e.g., Google Mobile Ads). Their practices are governed by their policies. See Google’s privacy policy for details.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the latest version on this page with the updated effective date.
